Look Up, was created between 2020 and 2021 by Linnea Cat Stahura at the Pacific Northwest College of Art. Its purpose is to expose the body, my body, as a site of oppression and joy all at once. I believe in the “inter-” like interdependence, intersectionality, interpersonal. The pieces here are parts of myself I am willing to share because the cost is worth the reward: being known and existing authentically is my answer to a system that asks me to vanish. In the middle of making this art, a global virus shut the world down, we saw the biggest social justice movement in history, hate crimes towards Asian citizens increased drastically, my grandmother passed away, I began HRT, I got engaged, and I received three untreatable diagnoses after a surgery. Everything here is a memoir of those experiences, all tied to the systems that affected every day in between.
